ITSSA History and Mission

The Illinois Township Association of Senior Citizens Services Committees (ITASCSC) was officially recognized by the Illinois Township Officials in 1982. The Association formed as a result of several township representatives meeting to address the needs of older adults and to enhance senior services in their communities.

In 2024, the association entered a new phase of service delivery by updating the name to the

Illinois Township Senior Services Association (ITSSA).

The mission of ITSSA is to enable townships to provide services necessary to empower older adults to maintain independence within their communities.

FOCUS

Provide for the stability and continuity of existing Township-sponsored Senior Services Programs
Act as an advisory group for the establishment of new Township Senior Citizens Services Committees
Monitor and advocate for current and pending legislation related to Senior Services
Promote the cooperation and sharing of resources and program information among Township Senior Services providers
Provide educational opportunities
